Project Description

Slip Repair Project

Pickering Associates was hired by Triad Hunter for a project involving 35,000 cubic yards of slip repair as a result of toe failure due to a subsurface failure that was not originally present during construction. Pickering Associates developed a plan for the fix which incorporated a large block segmental retaining wall using geogrid to help with toe support. The plan then called for controlled fill and embankment, with bonding benches and subsurface bench drains. The team also provided the design of rock blankets to mitigate surface slip repairs which have not yet been installed.

Pickering Associates worked with a geotechnical engineer to coordinate soil borings, and with CTL for tri-axial laboratory testing to gather needed slope stability parameters. Our team performed stability modeling in conformance with ODNR horizontal well site regulations.
