At Pickering Associates, we value family, community, and education. They are the three principles that we strive to carry out in our workplace. Part of our efforts to support education is by providing the youth of our community with opportunities to learn about what we do here at Pickering Associates. As a design firm, it can be a challenge to explain all of the various disciplines that we provide to our clients and the different types of work we are exposed to daily. We were fortunate to host two room sessions at the Marietta Middle School Career Fair on May 17th and show the students what Pickering Associates is all about. Marietta Middle School is one of our firm’s Partners in Education, and we are fortunate to work with the students three times a year and give them hands-on demonstrations of the design world. For this year’s career day, we had Nick Arnold, B.I.M. Coordinator, Frank Rose, Architectural Designer, and Jesse Daubert, Project Manager & Environmental Scientist. Our team was able to present a little bit about our company and what we are all about, as well as go into their careers and what they do daily.
“The students were very engaging. We had a great time answering their questions and helping them understand what it is we do,” commented Nick Arnold. We have been fortunate to participate in this event for the past few years and to have staff be able to go and speak to the students. As the school year comes to an end soon, we close up our Partner in Education season for the year, and are looking forward to next year’s!
