Ginger McConnell has been a member of the Pickering Family for the past 5 years. In fact, she just celebrated her 5-year anniversary on September 3rd. Happy work-iversary Ginger! Ginger works in our Admin department and serves as the Billing Specialist for the Company. A little about Ginger, she started her journey at Marietta College where she graduated with a bachelor’s in business management and a minor in leadership studies. From there her career took off at People’s Bank where she worked in the Trust Department. From there she joined the American Cancer Society as an Event Manager. She found Pickering through Ginger’s lifetime childhood friend, our own Angela Greathouse.

On a personal note Ginger is married to Tom McConnell, a team member of Pickering’s Surveying department, and they recently celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary! They have a son named Levi who is an 8th grader at Fort Frye and a member of the Marching Band where he plays Percussion.

Outside of the Pickering office Ginger enjoys a wide variety of hobbies such as Photography, Crocheting, and playing pool. On her free time Ginger volunteers for various organizations such as the Fort Frye Boosters where she helps her son Levi’s band by building props and attending every game and competition. Ginger also has helped with various Relay for life events and is a current volunteer for the Bravo Mom Prom hosted every year.

In addition to all that Ginger is a two-time Cancer fighter and survivor! And three years ago, she used that experience to help others by starting and managing the Firefly nonprofit organization! Firefly is a Spark of Hope in the Mid-Ohio Valley and surrounding communities to help those going through Cancer to be able to pay their bills while they transition or are going through treatments. The only requirement is to have cancer. And the organization pays the individual’s bill directly, eliminating extra work and allowing those in need to focus on treatment and recovery. In their 3 years of service they have been able to donate over $65,000 to over 100 different individuals. This year’s Business After Hours Event is being hosted in honor of Firefly and to raise their awareness for their cause and mission to help others in our community. Ginger’s story is an amazing one and we are happy to have her on board here at Pickering Associates. When asked what her favorite part about working at Pickering Associates was she answered, “The people, and the atmosphere they create…it truly is a family.”
