After much anticipation, the Peoples Bank Theatre opened its doors on Saturday for its first official event – a Donor Appreciation Gala thanking members of the community for their continued support over the years.
Donors were given tours of the newly renovated historic theatre and treated to musical entertainment, food and hors d’oevres from local establishments, including the Marietta Brewing Company, Putnam Chocolates, and Emanuel’s Bakery & Diner. The evening included welcoming remarks from Peoples Bank CEO Chuck Sulerzyski and Hippodrome/Colony Historical Theatre Association Executive Director Hunt Brawley, followed by a short film detailing the history of the theatre and the renovation process. The Theatre’s new house band preformed, led by Scott Kitchen and including Jess Balwin, Tiffany Casasante, Ryan Hardiman and Su Meredith. Board President and former owner of the theatre, Dan Stephen, concluded the evening’s events with a toast to the theatre’s many supporters, affiliates and friends.
Pickering Associates provided engineering and architectural design revisions for the Historical Renovation of the Theatre, working closely with the Theatre Association and grant funding sources as well as the State Historical Review Board to ensure that the project was being designed to meet all necessary requirements.
Our services included architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural design and construction administration. Architectural design included design for a new concession area in the main lobby, modifications to the second floor lobby and restrooms, a new pump room, and coordination with Copperleaf Design for material and color selections. Ron Arnold, Construction Administrator throughout the project, said “it’s hard to believe you are in the same building.”
