Positions:

Civil Engineer- 4+ years experience

Pickering Associates has an opening for a full-time Civil Engineer with 4+ years’ experience in civil engineering and design.  This candidate will join a team of other design professionals servicing WV, OH and beyond.

Position requires thorough knowledge of civil design and engineering techniques. Candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting independent civil engineering work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Will devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering practices and standards.

Candidate must be able to perform all levels of civil engineering designs for Industrial and Commercial facilities:

Required Skills:

  • Preparation of construction drawings and detailed calculations.
  • Creation/design of grading, site plans, utility plans, and sediment/erosion control drawings
  • Able to create construction cost estimates and report writing;
  • Knowledge of current industry practices and standards
  • Cost Estimates
  • Provide manpower requirements for engineering proposals
  • Requires contact with Clients, vendor’s representatives and project field personnel
  • Participate in job site visits to serve as the civil technical project representative during construction

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Field or Site Work experience an asset (survey, inspection);
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Applications is required;
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills;
  • Independent, displaying a high level of commitment;
  • Licensed Professional Engineer a plus

Structural Engineer Opportunity

Pickering Associates, Inc., a full service Architectural and Engineering firm, is seeking a full-time experienced Structural Engineer.  The successful candidate will join a team of design professionals servicing a diverse base of clients throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley, including WV, OH and beyond.

Duties:

Position requires thorough knowledge of structural design and engineering techniques.

Candidate must be able to perform all levels of structural engineering designs for Industrial and Commercial facilities including experience with:

  • Analysis and design of steel, reinforced concrete and masonry structures for static and dynamic loading from foundation to super structure;
  • Use of finite elements on complex structures and use of application software in structural design;
  • Planning review, layout and details of construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, field inspections and investigations;
  • Cost estimating and technical writing;
  • Development of project scopes, engineering budgets, and design schedules
  • Preparation of technical reports,
  • Understanding of industry and regulatory practices and trends; and
  • Application of building codes and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and RAM Structural design software preferred.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) status preferred, but not required

Electrical Engineer- 4+ years experience

Pickering Associates has an opening for a full-time electrical engineer with 4+ years’ experience in electrical engineering and design.  This candidate will join a team of 6 other electrical engineers and designers servicing the WV, OH and beyond.

Position requires thorough knowledge of electrical design and engineering techniques. Candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting independent electrical engineering work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Will devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering practices and standards.

Candidate must be able to perform all levels of electrical engineering designs for Industrial and Commercial facilities:

Required Skills:

  • Power distribution: 15kV and 600V and below
  • Develop one-line diagrams, plans, details, and schedules
  • Power study experience such as short circuit analysis/arc flash studies
  • Standby generator design application experience
  • Application of NFPA Guidelines including publication 70 (National Electric Code), 70E
  • Lighting Design including lighting calculations, layout, and controls
  • Develop motor controls, design schematics, and consult on motor applications
  • Cost Estimates
  • Provide manpower requirements for engineering proposals
  • Requires contact with Clients, vendor’s representatives and project field personnel
  • Participate in job site visits to serve as the electrical technical project representative during construction

Additional Skills (preferred, but not required):

  • Experience using SKM PowerTools for power system studies
  • Develop process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Process and field instrumentation design including application and integration
  • Control System Programming

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors of Science degree in electrical engineering
  • At least four years of experience in electrical engineering design
  • Knowledgeable in National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code (NFPA/NEC) Standards
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus

Senior Drafter Opportunity

Pickering Associates, Inc., a full service Architectural and Engineering firm, is seeking a full-time experienced AutoCAD Drafter.  The successful candidate will join a team of design professionals servicing a diverse base of clients throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley, including WV, OH and beyond.

Duties:

Position requires thorough knowledge of AutoCAD suite of products.

Candidate must be able to perform all levels of drafting and fieldwork in conjunction with their assignments including experience with:

  • Personal time management;
  • Field measurements and investigation and;
  • Layout and details of construction drawings, shop drawings, and field inspections;

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred but not required
  • Experience with AutoCAD REVIT and other platforms
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
