Pickering Associates is pleased to announce Structural Engineer Charlie Taylor, PE recently passed the Principles and Practices of Engineering Exam, earning him the title of Professional Engineer (PE). The PE Exam is the second required exam for engineers, and is taken after the completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.

The PE Exam is created and scored by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). NCEES is a national non-profit organization composed of engineering and surveying licensing boards representing all states and U.S. territories. Much like the examinations required for public accounting, law and other professions, exam candidates spend a large amount of time preparing to take the test.

Charlie studied for the exam every weekend for the past three months. “I have always had an interest in buildings and I wanted to know how they were designed and built,” Charlie said. “The best part of my job is to design something on paper, and then go see it actually being built. There is a lot of pride and satisfaction in seeing what you designed come to life.” Now that Charlie is a PE, he has the ability to legally certify his own work.

Charlie is also currently enrolled in a Graduate Program through Marshall University working towards a graduate degree in Engineering Management.
