Not many individuals can say that they worked at the same company for a decade of their life. With an ever-changing economy and job market, career singularity is a rare and genuine celebration for someone. Ronald Arnold and Nick Arnold came to work for Pickering Associates in 2009 and have taken their positions to illustrious heights.
Ron came to the company from Davis Pickering, where he worked as a Project Manager. He then transitioned to Pickering Associates, where he started working as an Architectural Designer, and he has made his mark with our team and watched this company grow and develop over the past decade. His extensive experience in Construction and Estimating has benefited Pickering as a company and is what led to his transition into the Department Lead for our Construction Administration team. He travels all over the tri-state area, in the office at daybreak to sundown, and a little on weekends. Ron has been a true example of a loyal and dependable employee. We are fortunate to have him as part of our team for the past ten years! Thank you for your dedication and service. Ron, you are an example to us all.
Nick came to us eleven years ago, when he searched for design firms in the phone book looking for internships. From that internship, we hired him full-time, and he has been with us ever since. As a new graduate, Nick came into this company with an open mind and ever-growing curiosity for the industry.
When asked to look back on the past ten years Nick replied, “What a ride! Hard to believe this time 10 years ago I was cutting the grass and painting the doors/trim/deck and doing pretty much any drafting anyone needed just to convince Traci and Ryan to keep me on staff 3 days a week until we got more work.
Never in a million years would I dream that within 10 years I’d be traveling the various new branches collaborating with new teammates and figuring out how to get whiz-bang new hardware up and running for our innovative workflows and talented coworkers. It’s been humbling to be a part of our firm and to watch it blossom into the diverse collection of talents we exhibit today. I’ve worked alongside some of the very best people in the valley, learned from some of the finest designers and engineers I’ve ever met, hopefully, passed on some of that knowledge to the next generation of high caliber professionals through trainings and technical support, and had an absolute BLAST doing it all along the way!
I really do have my dream job. I couldn’t have imagined anything better. The people surrounding us daily really are our “secret sauce”. Even on the rough days, there’s no other work-family I’d rather be in the trenches with striving for excellence. We’ve got something magical here; something I can’t put into words exactly.
If I had to sum it up, it would be in the words of the great Walt Disney: “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” Thank you, Nick, for hard work, dedication, endless curiosity, and passion you have provided this company for the past ten years. We can’t wait to watch you grow and develop these next ten years!
