Project Description

Drilling Pad Design

After many successful projects, this client chose Pickering Associates again to assist them with engineering design services for an upcoming project. The client had a need to construct a new site in Tyler County, West Virginia for a Marcellus Shale drilling operation. The site will consist of a drilling pad that is 360’ x 360’’ with the associated drilling pits.

Once the site was selected, Pickering Associates provided a short access road to gain access to the site. Both construction and Erosion and Sediment Control drawings were created for the client. Pickering Associates also investigated if any additional permits were needed and provided a topographical survey which included the location of applicable existing utility structures, and utility details of all water, sewer, gas, power, and communication lines.

The client also requested a design for storm-water drainage, grading, and road alignment. Once the construction was considered to be in compliance, a construction certification letter of the drilling pad and access road was created and submitted to the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.
