Project Description

Faith Meadows

Pickering Associates completed the design and construction administration for West Virginia’s first LEED Certified home. The home has a HERS rating of .43, thus using 43% of the energy that an average home of its size would consume. WV’s first LEED home is also Platinum certified, the highest of LEED certifications. The design was led by Traci Stotts and Nick Arnold, with Construction Administration led by Ron Arnold. The Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Energy System was designed by Pickering Energy Solutions and produces enough energy to power the entire home year round.

Pickering utilized Building Information Modeling to conduct a building performance analysis outlining impacts of design as well as to create realistic interior and exterior renderings to showcase design. The 3D model was used to assist in the design and construction of the project, and later to develop educational tools and diagrams explaining the sustainable strategies used throughout design.
